What should I wear going around the parks?  I like to look smart, I am 40. I hate trainers, any ideas please.

I've recommended sneakers (trainers) for park touring most because that's what seems to be most comfortable to Americans. But you can wear anything on your feet that you feel comfortable in. Bear in mind that on a typical busy park day you can expect to walk upwards of five miles or more. It's imperative that your shoes be broken-in and not be of a type that would give you blisters. I personally often were a very comfortable pair of ballet-flat style shoes in the parks. I have seen many people in the parks wearing flip-flops and even high-heels. These styles would not work for me, but the guests I've seen wearing them looked perfectly fine.

Just wear what makes you happy and let Disney do the rest.
