Hey there, Mark! Thanks for bringing your great question to us at planDisney.
Is there anything better than waking up in a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel, turning on the TV to some great Disney tunes, and getting ready for an exciting day ahead? I don't think so, either. There's just something special about immersing yourself in Disney while you're at
Walt Disney World Resort!
Like you, I really loved the WDW Today channel that could be found at most Disney Resort hotels! From watching the park hours scroll by and anticipating the adventures that are just minutes away, to the catchy string of Disney music (I could tell you exactly which song was coming next!), I truly enjoyed this feature. While there hasn't been an official announcement of the WDW Today channel being phased out, I have noticed that it wasn't available during my last trip. However, there have been new interactive features in its place! When I last stayed at
Disney's Riviera Resort, there was an Interactive TV that had resort-specific music playing in a loop (which I also really loved!). I do believe that all Disney Resorts Collection hotels will eventually be upgraded with Interactive TVs, allowing Guests to experience personal greetings, stream from Chromecast-enabled devices, and access important park information.
In addition to Interactive TVs, Guests will also soon be able to interact with the magical companion, "
Hey Disney!" in their rooms. This complimentary and optional experience will allow Guests to have wake-up messages from Mickey and his friends, request more towels, and even add to the fun by telling jokes, sharing stories, and quizzing Guests with Disney trivia! You can
learn even more about how "Hey Disney!" was created, as well as
ways you can enjoy "Hey Disney!" once you return home, too.
Walt Disney once said, "Progress is impossible without change." While we may miss some of the features that we've once grown to enjoy at Walt Disney World Resort, I know that the next new magical thing is right around the corner, waiting to be enjoyed. I'm wishing you a very special trip the next time you're at The Most Magical Place on Earth!
