Going to WDW start of Dec, girl 4 & boy 3. Would like to stay either in CBR, Yacht club or Wilderness lodge. Want beach, good kids pool, and nice Christmas atmosphere. Is the water park at yacht club too big for our kids? Is it worth the upgrade?

If you can afford it, I would definitely upgrade to the Yacht Club or the Wilderness Lodge over Caribbean Beach.

The Wilderness Lodge has a rustic feel.  The main building is huge, and a gigantic Christmas tree reaches for the ceiling in the center of the lobby.  The decorations here all feel handmade and have a natural beauty to them.  Outdoors, the beach is great for viewing the Electrical Water Pageant or the fireworks over Cinderella's Castle.  A 'stream' running from the lobby goes over waterfalls and through the property before spilling out into the feature pool.  The pool is free-form style and has a waterslide and a great view of the geyser erupting hourly.  This is a very beautiful resort and a very beautiful pool to go along with it.  It's also a much less crowded pool than the Yacht Club's, which can be very nice.

At the Yacht Club you'll find a different kind of beauty - more 'refined casual'.  If you ever watch The Food Network you may have seen Christmas decorations here; you'll find a gingerbread train at the Yacht Club and a huge gingerbread carousel in the attached Beach Club Resort.  They are amazing works of art!  And it goes without saying that the pool, Stormalong Bay, is incredible.  It is a mini water park in and of itself, and definitely the best pool on Disney property.  The kiddie pool is in a wrecked ship washed ashore, and this is also the location to enter the waterslide.  The slide has you crossing completely over the boardwalk as you slide down to the main pool!  There are waterfalls, a sand-bottomed beach area, and even a mini lazy river.  There are also lots of lifeguards that often organize play in the sand with the kids, which my girls really enjoy.

Wherever you choose to stay, plan on visiting other resorts as well.  Disney Christmas decorations are amazing!
