WDW has pin trading? This is our first trip! My family went to Disneyland 50th Anniv. I saw a cast member wearing a "belle" pin and I was so excited. I am a HUGE Belle fan. He GAVE it to me with his compliments. I still cry in joy over it. WDW ha

    Hi Marie,

Yes Disney does pin trading! My family is big into collecting pins. We use them as rewards for good behavior or for doing crazy stunts like riding Big Thunder Mountain with no hands on the bar!

My husband collects pins from all of the resorts he has stayed in, I collect sidekicks, Jessica collects villians and Nicole collects Tinkerbell.

You can trade pins with any Disney Castmembers who are wearing lanyards. Some have rules that they will not trade a pin for one which they already have. Others are more flexible.

Here are a few quick tips. If you do not have lanyards, buying the lanyards and pin sets to start are a good value. However, the lanyards can be heavy when filled so we always carry our pins in a large zipper top bag in case they become to heavy. Also, my husband carries his pins to trade in a small bag in his pocket and then trades when he sees something he likes. This way he does not have to worry about carrying all of his pins.

When trading, make sure you have the black Mickey backing and not the metal backs. The black Mickey's hold the pin better to the lanyard.

There a trading books at pin carts and stores. Please feel free to look through the books and make a trade here as well.

Finally, there are websites which you can buy 25 or 30 pins at a time at a discount. My husband buys these pins and then trades them in the park. This could be a big savings when new pins cost $7 or more.

The main thing is to have fun!
