Hi, we will be in WDW (Oct 2-17) staying off-site. My son's b-day is Sun. Oct. 3, and he gets to pick the park. He wants HS that day but I noticed on the calendar that they have Extra Hours that day. Because of that and being a weekend, will it be busy?

Hi Lindsey! October is generally a good time of year to visit Walt Disney World as the crowds are fairly low then.  It's true that the park with Extra Magic Hours for Disney resort guests can sometimes get more crowded than normal, and it's true that weekends in the parks can be busier than weekdays since local residents may visit then. Also, Fantasmic is scheduled for that Sunday, which may cause an increase in visitors since the popular show happens only a few times a week at that time of year.  Based on these reasons, Hollywood Studios will likely be busy on that Sunday.  However, because early October is generally a period of lower attendance rates at Disney, it shouldn't be unmanageably busy and certainly you won't face the type of crowds that you'd find at peak times of year. Since the Extra Magic Hours that Sunday are at night, many Disney resort guests may not arrive at the park until later in the day. Plan to be at the Studios when it opens that morning, and you will easily be able to hit the highlights before the crowds start to grow.

Hope your son has a magical birthday!
