Hi, Amanda!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. You'll be visiting Walt Disney World at a great time of the year! Two of my family's favorite annual special events are happening in mid-October - Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom Park and the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. These are definitely not-to-be-missed events!
The
Pirate Adventure Cruises are a lot of fun for both boys and girls ages 4 to 12. This 2-hour cruise sets sail at 9:30 AM from four different locations: Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa; Disney's Yacht Club & Beach Club Resorts; Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside; and Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort.
You don't mention which resort you'll be staying at, but I would suggest making a reservation for the Pirate Adventure departing from the Marina at the Grand Floridian, for two main reasons: this resort will likely be the easiest to get to in the morning, and kids love sailing on the Seven Seas Lagoon so close to the Magic Kingdom. They can easily spy the spires of Cinderella Castle and the futuristic outlines of Space Mountain from their pirate ship!
There is no direct bus transportation between Disney's resort hotels. To get to the Grand Floridian, you would take a bus from your resort to Magic Kingdom and then hop on the Resort Monorail line to the fourth stop. You'll want to allow up to 60 minutes total travel time to reach the Marina at the Grand Floridian from your resort.
Wishing your apprentice pirates a
swashbuckling good time! If you need more specific information on your transportation options for the Pirate Adventure Cruise, send me a follow-up question with the name of your resort and I'll be happy to help!
