Going to WDW in March '09 for the first time (for all of us) with my husband, 3 sons (ages 5, 4, and 1), and parents. Where do you recommend us staying, mostly taking into account our sons? Torn between moderate and deluxe resorts. Thanks!

    Amanda,

I really think it depends on what your budget will allow.  I personally do prefer deluxe resorts, but if you would be stretched thin then I don't think that it's worth it.  Staying at a moderate would allow you more breathing room in the budget for fun extras, and those are important!  Also many people really do not spend time in their rooms or at their resort; they're in the parks all day every day.  If that sounds like your touring style, then save your money and don't pay more for a deluxe - you won't be there to appreciate it anyway!

All that said, for your family I would recommend Port Orleans-Riverside in the moderate category, and Animal Kingdom Lodge in the deluxe category.  Savannah view rooms are fantabulous, but don't worry if you can't afford one - they're not at all necessary to enjoy this resort.  There are numerous balconies and large viewing areas where you can enjoy the animals without paying an extra dime.  It really is a stunning resort, and my daughters (5, 3, 1.5) love it!

    Have fun planning!
