For WDW marathon weekend, is the kids' 1 mile race 4 laps on a track? Also, can my 5 and 7 year old children run the 200m kids race together or will they be in separate heats? And are there any characters out for the kids' 1 mile and 200m races?

    Hi Crystal!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. How fun for you as a Momma to watch your kiddos dash their way to the finish line and collect their very own runDisney medals during Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend!

While the courses are subject to change every year, historically for the runDisney Kids Races the dashes have taken place either on the track or an open field and the one mile run has been around the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Keep an eye out for the Event Guide, which will show you the course information for the runDisney Kids Races!

For the 200 meter dash, even though your children are two years apart, they are within the same age range to qualify them for the same dash distance so they should be able to line up together and race in the same heat. They release them in very small batches for safety precautions so the age difference should not be an issue.

I'm glad to let you know that after they complete their dash their should certainly be some fun Disney Characters out for the Kids to snap a photo with! What is a runDisney race without some awesome Disney friends to chEAR you on?! I'm personally hoping for Chip & Dale to make an appearance, but we will just have to wait and see.

Please let me know if you have any other questions before your trip!
