We'll be in WDW July 4th this year! Are there any special things to do or see in any of the parks 7/3 or 7/4? What about special seating for firework shows? Anything we shouldn't miss? We're DVC members, if that matters. Thanks!

Hey there, Jennifer! Visiting Walt Disney World over the July 4th holiday instead of running down to the Jersey shore is becoming a tradition for us. So much fun!

The biggest thing you don't want to miss this coming 4th of July is Disney's Celebrate America - a Fourth of July Concert in the Sky. This phenomenal fireworks display is scheduled to take place on both July 3rd and July 4th at the Magic Kingdom theme park, and it's listed on the calendar right now for a 9:15 kick-off both nights. You can view this from various places throughout the Walt Disney World resort area, but I have to tell you, there's no place like standing in front of the castle with the music going and the fireworks blasting - you can even grab a hot dog at Casey's Corner and make it feel like a real backyard barbecue. I love these fireworks more than any other throughout the year.

While you can see this any day at the Magic Kingdom, I dare you to keep a dry eye for the Flag Retreat Ceremony on the 4th of July. Taking place daily at 5 PM, I get teary eyed just thinking about it. You say the Pledge of Allegiance and they play the Star Spangled Banner. Then - and this is the part that requires extra tissues - a US military service member or veteran is handed the flag for a short procession down Main Street, U.S.A.

You will want to check with your resort for special activities taking place there during your stay. The front desk will have a schedule for you.

    Have a great time!
