Hi Danielle!
I’m so excited for your husband and your entire family! What a wonderful birthday surprise! You’re sure to make wonderful family memories on such a special trip.
Not to worry, Danielle, I think you can still keep the
MagicBands a surprise from the birthday boy. First, you should get an email notification when they ship. This will come to the email you use for your
My Disney Experience Account. The box will ship USPS Priority Mail and the email will give you a tracking number so you can keep an eye on the box as it heads to you. Hopefully, this will help you get to the mailbox before your husband. Maybe if you know it is coming you can ask a trusted friend or neighbor to run to the mailbox before your husband? It took about a week from the time I received the notification to when I received my MagicBands.
Additionally, the MagicBands will come in a plain brown box, with no mention of Disney. The only clue might be the return address in Florida, but it does not even come from Orlando or Lake Buena Vista, so that should help keep the secret a bit longer as well!
Don’t forget to make any
Advance Dining Reservations you might want 60 days before your resort check-in. And did you know there are
birthday cakes available at most table-service locations? You can request one at the restaurant podium either upon arrival or earlier in the day. Cakes are available on a first-come, first-served basis so I would stop by as early as possible. While I haven’t tried one myself yet, some of my fellow planDisney Panelists have mentioned that they taste as good as they look, and a birthday cake would be the perfect ending to a celebration meal!
So keep an eye on that email and get ready to stalk the mailbox, Danielle! And I hope you’ll send any more questions that you have as you plan your trip.
Happy Planning!
