Welcome to planDisney, Amanda, and thanks for this question fit for the gods! My son loved the Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series, and I can't wait to start watching the new show on
Disney+. And I have some good news about finding Percy in the parks on your upcoming
Walt Disney World Resort visit.
I visited
Disney's Hollywood Studios last week and saw a sign near the entrance advertising a "Sneak Peek" of the show at the
Walt Disney Presents walk-through attraction. This mini-museum is one of my favorite activities at the parks because there's always something new to see about Walt Disney's legacy. This is a self-paced experience, so my tip is to take your time and enjoy learning about Disney's history. But the grand finale is where you'll find the demi-god you seek.
An impressive display of memorabilia and costumes used in the series Percy Jackson and the Olympians is on full display just outside the museum's theater in the lobby. You'll see sneakers and tee shirts worn by the cast, and there's even a case dedicated to Camp Half-Blood.
Every 20 minutes or so, guests can enter the theater to watch a behind-the-scenes trailer featuring the series' author, Rick Riordan. I think any Percy Jackson fan will be enthralled with this exhibit.
I asked a Cast Member how long the exhibit and trailer would be available, and he said they don't have the details yet. Since it opened a few days ago, I'm crossing my fingers and swords that it will still be there for your visit in a few weeks.
I didn't see any merchandise in the parks relating to this franchise, but my tip is to ask at any
Guest Relations location at Disney's Hollywood Studios for updates. In the meantime, I noticed a couple of tees and books on
shopDisney you might enjoy.
Amanda, I hope you feel well-armed for your upcoming battle, er, vacation! Please stop by
planDisney anytime.
Magic awaits,
Elaine
