We are going to be in WDW during the MVMCP but are not going to actually go to the parties. Are we not allowed to be at MK at all on those days or do we have to leave at a certain time?

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party starts at 7:00 p.m. Regular guests are allowed to enjoy the Magic Kingdom as usual all day until 7:00. At that point there will be some announcements that the park is closing and you will be asked to leave. Guests who have a ticket to the Christmas Party will be given wristbands that identify them as Party guests. Regular guests will not be forcibly removed from the park or anything like that. But after 7:00 you'll need the wristband to go on any rides or participate in any activities.

There is lots to do at the Magic Kingdom during the day -- have fun!
