Will be at WDW for 3 days, trying to fit in each park at least once. What character meals do you recommend for a 6 year old girl and 3 year old boy? Should I stick to dinners? We have the meal plan. We're not doing any princess meals.

    Hi Lauren,

There are character meals at 10 different venues at Walt Disney World. If you take out the princess meals, that leaves seven and a half. These are the options:

Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary: the classic Disney characters (B, D)
Ohana at the Polynesian: Lilo and Stitch (B)
1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian: Alice and Mary Poppins (B). Princesses at dinner.
Hollywood & Vine at Disney's Hollywood Studios: Disney Junior characters (B, L)
Tusker House at Animal Kingdom: Donald and friends (B, L)
Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom: Pooh and friends (B, L, D)
Cape May Cafe at Beach Club: Minnie and friends (B)
Garden Grill at Epcot: Chip & Dale and friends (D)

If there are particular characters your kids like, then that's a great place to start. If you're staying at one of the resorts that features a character meal, then dinner there would be great because you can pop the kids in bed quickly after the meal.

I actually think a lunch option would be great. This allows you to get to the park early and enjoy many rides in the morning, using the character lunch as a break. And if your kids are picky eaters, you may want to focus on the buffets which allow them to see the food that they're choosing.

A great resource to help you process all this is on the independent website DisneyFoodBlog.com in an article called "Choosing the Right Character Meal for Your Family."

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know what else we can do to help.
