We will be at WDW in 7 days...so excited!! My 9 year old daughter is a brain cancer patient and will require the use of a wheelchair while on vacation. She is able to walk but not for long periods. Where can we rent a wheelchair while at Disney?

    Hi Lisa,

A trip to Walt Disney World sounds like just the ticket to put a little happiness into your challenging situation.

Wheelchairs are available for rental at the front of each of the Disney theme parks. But in your situation, you are probably better off renting from one of the many independent agencies that serve the Disney area. The Disney wheelchairs cannot leave the parks (and you may need a chair at your resort) and they are sized for adults, not children.

There are a number of reputable agencies, all of which pick up and deliver to the Disney hotels. You may want to start your research with walkermobility.com. Other members of the Moms Panel have used them with great success.

You should also stop by the guest relations office at the first park that you visit. You will likely be entitled to a Guest Assistance Pass (GAP) that may offer you some modified ride experiences.

Another great resource is the book "Passporter's Open Mouse to Walt Disney World." This is available at Amazon.com and larger bookstores and gives loads of great tips on how to have the best possible Disney experience with medical considerations.

I hope you and your entire family enjoy your special time together.
