Welcome aboard, Randi! My family and I love to begin the Disney magic early too, enjoying a day or two at the Walt Disney World Resort before we set sail on our Disney Cruise Line voyages out of Port Canaveral. When we're THAT close to Walt Disney World, we just can't pass it up!
The parks and the cruise ships use two different photo services, so unfortunately,
Memory Maker is only for Walt Disney World. If you're only there for one day, it might be best to purchase a few photos on your own, instead of the whole Memory Maker package, unless you think you'll be taking advantage of lots of the photo opportunities that day.
On the ships, there is a different photography set up, and those packages can be pre-purchased as well, which saves a bit of money over the cost onboard. Or, you can purchase packages or individual prints onboard. Since you'll be on the ship longer, you'll have plenty of opportunities to have photos taken around the ship, with the characters, at some dinners and at Castaway Cay. Check out the photo packages that are available for pre-purchase on the
My Cruise Photos website, which is linked on the Photography page of Disney Cruise Line's website.
Shutters, the photography shop onboard, offers individual prints too, and I always find one or two of those that I must have, especially with the cute borders they add! You'll find kiosks around the Shutters area where you can view all of your digital photos any day throughout the sailing. It's really easy.
The biggest difference about the onboard photos, though, is that they are not viewable once you leave the ship that last day, so be sure to make any purchases before you disembark.
Happy planning, Randi!
