Hi there, have been to WDW baby times but next week will be our first with our 6mth old. What are the rules for riding attractions with babies? Can they be worn in a baby carrier? If there is a lap bar, do they have to sit on the seat next to you?

Hi there, Brian, and welcome to planDisney!

My younger son’s first visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth was at 6 months old, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way! It’s the perfect time to step into the magic with your family’s new addition.

You will be happy to hear that there are several attractions that your little Mouseketeer can enjoy. If an attraction has no height requirement, then they are good to go! You’ll find the most rides with no minimum height requirement at the iconic Magic Kingdom Park; however, every single theme park has so much for your little one to experience.

While my younger son was your baby’s age for his first visit, my older son’s first ride was at six weeks old. The attraction? The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh! And I held him in a baby carrier for that attraction and a plethora of others. While you absolutely can use a baby carrier on the rides without height requirements, there are some attractions where the adult’s experience may be altered. For example, on the Mad Tea Party, it may be harder to spin the teacup’s wheel; or on Toy Story Mania, it could be more difficult to play along in the interactive game.

There are attractions with lower height requirements like Alien Swirling Saucers at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which your baby is probably too short to ride, that do require the child to sit next to you. You won’t encounter this on this upcoming vacation, but keep that in mind for your future visits.

AN EXTRA GEM: My favorite thing about taking my kiddos to Walt Disney World when they were babies is the access to the complimentary Baby Care Centers at all four theme parks. They are the perfect spots to do a private diaper change or a feeding. And if you need any baby essentials, you can find them there (for a fee). You’ll love the Baby Care Centers, or your nearby Resort hotel, for a welcomed midday break.

I am so excited for you all to experience your Happy Place through the eyes of your little one! Take as many photos and videos as you can, and consider asking a PhotoPass photographer to help capture some of those precious moments. Brian, please revisit us here at planDisney if you have any other questions about your vacation.

    Magic always,
