Hi Pam,
I love seeing and helping a Guest who continually asks the Disney Parks Moms Panelist for pixie dusted assistance. Not only do you get advice and your questions answered but sometimes we learn some new things through your questions and yours is one such question.
After some magical research and speaking to a Cast Member who reserves the
Wanyama Safari Resort Tour, I have discovered the entire tour is about 3-hours long, this includes the safari and feast at Jiko- The Cooking Place. The safari takes place in a modified safari van, where the interior and roof lowers and raises for optimal viewing. I know you are concerned about the warm temperatures but because you are sitting and the wind from the moving van will help with keeping you cooler, I believe this will ease your mind with the heat. After your tour, which takes places all around the Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and for those reading this answer, you need to be a Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort guest to reserve, you will then dine on an African feast at Jiko's- The Cooking Place. When making your reservation for the Wanyama Safari Resort Tour, inform the Cast Member about your son's nut allergy, they will accommodate and cater around his food needs so he and your family have a safe, fun, and delectable dining experience.
Reservations for the Wanyama Safari Resort Tour are booked by contacting the itinerary planning office or Concierge at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge at (407)938-4755. This is a popular tour so be sure to book 180-days in advance.
I hope your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World is magical and memorable and let me know if I can be of any further pixie dusted assistance.
