Hello, Kimberly! Welcome to planDisney. We’re so glad you stopped by!
Visiting Walt Disney World with grandparents is such a special experience. I still cherish the memories of walking down Main Street, U.S.A., hand-in-hand with my grandfather during a childhood trip with my Florida-resident grandparents. It’s wonderful that your parents want to share the magic with your teens!
When it comes to
Florida Resident Tickets, Disney does require that a guest age 18 or older provide
valid proof of Florida residency at any ticket window at the four theme parks or at the Disney Springs Guest Services location (even if your parents purchase the tickets online, they'll need to this step in person). For guests under 18, a Florida Resident who is 18 or older must be present and able to show residency documentation in order for them to use a Florida Resident ticket. This means that your parents wouldn’t be able to purchase Florida Resident tickets for your teens unless they are entering the parks together. Since you’ll be purchasing your own tickets at regular rates, your entire family can enjoy a magical trip together!
planDisney Pro Tip: If your mom is feeling up to joining in on the fun but may need a little extra comfort, she might want to consider renting an
ECV (Electric Conveyance Vehicle), also known as a scooter. These are available for daily rental at the front entrance of each theme park and can help make exploring the parks easier.
Another great way to make the most of your visit is
Memory Maker, Disney’s photo package that includes pictures taken by
Disney PhotoPass photographers, as well as on-ride and some character dining photos. It’s a perfect way for grandparents to be in the memories, not just behind the camera!
Wishing you a magical visit, Kimberly! If you have any other questions,
I’d be happy to help you again.
