Jemma,
DiveQuest is, in my opinion, well worth the money!
The first time I did
Epcot Seas Adventures - DiveQuest, I was with my then-girlfriend/now-wife. She is an avid scuba diver, and I had just gotten PADI certified. I was not really into scuba, but I knew it was important to her, so I surprised her with the reservation. We both loved it. My wife has had scuba experiences all over the world, and she ranks this in the top 3. While I loved getting up close with so many different species, even some nurse sharks, the real fun for me came elsewhere. I loved interacting with some of the guests on the other side of the glass at the
SeaBase within the Living Seas pavilion. I played patty-cake with a little girl sitting by the window, and some of the kids egged me on to pose for some pictures.
As it happens I can no longer scuba dive, due to an inner ear condition. But years later, when our girls were 6 and 8, my wife returned to the tank. They did not know she was in there, thinking she had gone back to the resort hotel to attend to some work issue. When she swam up to them at the window, they absolutely lost their minds! The had so much fun following her around the tank, enjoying her adventures. For your mum it will be the same. She can go do something fun during the hour or so prep time that you have before entering the tank, then return to see you in your element!
DIVEQUEST TIP: I know you think that she will recognize you immediately, but with matching outfits it may not be easy at first for your mum to spot you out of your scuba group. I made a laminated sign for my wife to hold up, both so that the girls realized it was her, but also for some photo opportunities!
I hope you try it out. It is an often overlooked adventure at
Epcot that is so unique and memorable.
Have a Magical Vacation!
