I've wanted to visit Disney for years. My husband gave me the go-ahead to start planning for Summer 2019. I planned on the website and came up with around $6000 for the family. He said we need to cut that in half.  Where can I cut corners?

    Hi there, Carrie!

The first thing we have to do is take a look at where you're spending the most money. I always find the most flexible part of my trip is the hotel. Walt Disney World offers hotels to fit a range of budgets, and if you start at the resorts you may be looking at, you might find you can opt for a Value resort and save a little money, or maybe shorten your visit by a day to save a few dollars.

Keep an eye on the Special Offers. You'll find various offers throughout the year, including resort room discounts, package deals, even sometimes an offer of a free Disney Dining Plan. My recommendation here is to go ahead and book the room you want, and if you see an offer that brings your cost lower, you can rebook when the offer is made. Some travel agents will do this for you automatically, which can be really important for a free dining offer.

Also check your theme park tickets. Is it cheaper to add the park hopper option and cut a day or two off - hitting mostly the highlights at each park and doing two parks in a day? While you won't get to see and do it all, you'll get a decent taste of each park.

You can also pack food to bring into the park with you, use Disney transportation to save on a rental car or local gas station stops, even stock your resort room fridge with quick breakfast items.

My fingers are crossed that you can find a way to make the magic happen for your family!
