We wanted to plan surprises for our resort arrival. Would I be able to bring items to the desk and ask for them to be laid out in our room so the kids see them when we first go to our room? I looked into gift baskets but they are more than I can afford.

    Lisa,

I wish I could give you a definite answer, but as I find out on my own trip last month, there are no guarantees.

I was assured that the resort (Wilderness Lodge) would be more than happy to deliver packages to our rooms.  I brought elaborate gift bags for my niece and my daughters, and the concierge desk accepted them late evening and said that they would be delivered the next morning as I requested.  The next morning we each received a message in our rooms that there was a package waiting for delivery and we should call the front desk when we were ready and they would bring it right up.  The girls were so excited, and called straight down...only to be told no.  They would not deliver the packages, we had to go down and get them.  :(

Needless to say, I was very frustrated.  Besides the fact that our villa was the farthest possible point from the front desk and we had to make two trips back and forth carrying these huge baskets for no reason, I was told by 3 different cast members that they would be happy to deliver.  When it came down to it, one front desk employee squashed that for us.

So, long story short, the lesson I learned is that you can't always rely on that delivery, no matter what you are told.  If it's really important to you to have the basket in the room, I suggest sneaking back up to display it yourself.  You won't be able to have it waiting for you upon arrival if you do it that way, but at least you could get the element of surprise.

    Good luck!
