Hi there, Tracey,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Food is one of my favorite Walt Disney World topics, so I'm happy you stopped by with your question today!
When you make your dining reservations, most restaurants will require a credit card just as a guarantee. You won't be charged unless you don't show up for your reservation (and haven't canceled at least a day in advance). There are just a few locations that are exceptions to this rule and I've listed those for you below.
Cinderella’s Royal Table
Hoop Dee Doo Revue
Mickey’s Backyard BBQ
Spirit of Aloha Luau
Some of the special events that are offered during the year are often also included on this list, such as the Tommorowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party, IllumiNations Sparkling Dessert Party and the Feel the Force Premium Package (just to name a few of the more popular ones).
If you have a vacation package reserved that includes the Disney Dining Plan, I've heard that it might be possible to avoid this payment at the time you make your dining reservation. If it doesn't give you this option on the
Dining page when you go to make your reservations online, just call (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463) to ask about that. Alternately, you can go ahead and make the payment at the time you book, and then get that refunded at the restaurant when you arrive for your reservation.
Wishing you delicious dining and a pixie-dusted trip, Tracey! Please write back anytime if you have any other questions we can help answer as you finalize your plans.
Beth
