Hi Sharon!
Welcome to planDisney! I always love it when I can double the magic of a Disney vacation by combining a
Disney cruise with a visit to
Walt Disney World Resort. When planning a land and sea adventure, my personal preference is to visit Walt Disney World before my cruise. Whether you’re choosing to
visit the theme parks or hoping to enjoy the wonderful dining and entertainment available throughout the resort (or a bit of both!), you’ll find so much to see and do during your time at Walt Disney World.
Sharon, Disney Cruise Line does not currently offer
ground transportation from Walt Disney World Resort to Port Everglades. However, there are a few options that you can consider to arrange your own transportation for cruises departing from Fort Lauderdale. One option would be to rent a car during your trip. If you’re visiting Walt Disney World before your cruise, you can look for a one-way car rental that you pick up at Orlando International Airport and then return when you arrive at Fort Lauderdale before boarding your ship. Guests staying at a
hotel in the Disney Resorts Collection enjoy
free parking at both their resort hotel and the theme parks, which makes this a wonderfully convenient option to consider! Just make sure you allow plenty of time to drive to Fort Lauderdale on your embarkation day, as it can take three hours or more from Orlando, depending on traffic.
If you’d prefer to leave the driving to someone else, you’ll find rail service available between Orlando International Airport and Fort Lauderdale. My panelist pal,
Nancy, recently
shared her own experience with the Brightline train that you may find helpful as you make your decision on what will work best for your vacation plans.
With the debut of new park experiences and the return of Cool Kids’ Summer,
this summer is going to be amazing at Walt Disney World! As you continue to plan your visit, be sure to check out the great
special offers that were recently released, and don’t forget that you can also enjoy
complimentary admission to
Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park or
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park on your resort check-in day. I'm currently working on planning my own summer visit and can't wait to experience it all myself!
I hope this information has been helpful, Sharon, and that you enjoy making many magical memories both on land and at sea this summer! If you have any other questions, please stop by to see us again here at planDisney - we’re all ears!
Cheers!
Kristi
