Does Walt Disney World still have planning help for large families? We used to do the Grand Gatherings, but our most recent annual trips, since 2015 or so, it has been difficult to get Dining reservations for a group of 12 -15 people.

    Hello James,

Thanks for coming to see us at planDisney with your question!

It's so fun to hear you have a big group of Mouseketeers looking forward to gathering at the Walt Disney World Resort.

The Walt Disney World Resort does offer its Disney Group Getaways program to help Guests plan for large group vacations. If your group is planning to book at least 10 Resort hotel rooms for 1 night of your stay, then the Disney Group Getaways services provided by a Disney Group Specialist could be helpful for your planning. You can share more information with them online, or you can contact them at (407) 828-3318.

If you'll be looking to book your own dining reservations online, it's helpful to know that Guests currently can make dining reservations 60 days in advance. Because your vacation stay is just about a year away, I would suggest checking the "Dining: Know Before You Go" information to see if the reservation policy and the reservation booking window change as your vacation time gets closer.

When you go to book your dining reservations online, you might see a notice that the reservation system isn't able to make an online reservation for groups as large as yours, and you might see a note to call Disney Dining at (407) 824-1391 for assistance.

One approach you might consider is to divide your group into two or three smaller planning groups and designate one planner from each group to coordinate making dining plans together. My fellow planDisney panelists DonyellKate, and Betsy offer some super helpful tips for this approach and also offer suggestions for restaurants suitable for large groups. Check out their great advice!

James, I also encourage you to follow the Disney Parks Blog as a way to stay in the know for what's new and exciting at the Walt Disney World Resort and the dining experiences you and your group can enjoy when you visit.

Here's wishing you lots of Disney magic in your day today!

Meet the Panelist: Jerry, Pennsylvania

The playful and creative optimism of all things Disney has enthralled me since I was a kid. I loved watching "The Wonderful World of Disney" on Sunday nights, seeing all the live-action and animated classics in theaters, and — of course — visiting "The Most Magical Place on Earth" for the first time 45 years ago. These days, the big kid in me still loves to play Disney. As a long-time Disney destinations vacationer, I'm looking forward to helping you play Disney starting here at planDisney!
