We are visitng for the first time next week! I heard that your room key can be used for all of your purchases at WDW, rather than carrying around cash every day. Is that true?

Hi, Tari! Congratulations on your first Walt Disney World vacation! When you check-in at your resort, you will be given your individual, personalized Key to the World card.  It serves as your room key, theme park tickets (if applicable), and dining plan card (if applicable).  Yes, you can also link it to a credit card to make purchases on your trip. It really does become your Key to the World.  Have a Magical vacation! Wish my next trip was next week!
