We are visiting WDW starting Oct 16. I know that early check in is not a likely possibility. However, is it possible to check my bags with the bell hop and then visit MK?

Certainly! You can actually check in as soon as you arrive as well. If you get to your resort in the morning, proceed to the front desk as usual. The cast member there will be able to fully check you in, and if your room is by chance ready early, they will direct you to it. If it isn't ready, they will let you know how you can find out when it is ready, and direct you to bell services to have your luggage held.

I actually find it nice to check in earlier in the day. Even if our room isn't ready, the lines at the front desk will be much shorter then than later in the day. Take advantage of it!
