I am visiting WDW soon for my daughter’s first birthday. I want to book a capture your moment session for Animal Kingdom and I’m wondering where the locations are to choose from and if there are props provided for first birthday. Thanks in advance!

    Jambo, Summer!

I'm absolutely delighted to welcome you to planDisney...and what a sweet and memorable question you've brought our way! It's so heartwarming to hear that you're planning to celebrate your daughter's very first birthday with a Capture Your Moment photo session at Animal Kingdom. What a beautiful way to mark such a special milestone! The lush landscapes and stunning scenery at Animal Kingdom will make for an unforgettable backdrop, and I can already imagine how precious those photos will be. It truly sounds like a celebration that's practically perfect in every way!

I did a little research and came across a helpful article on the Disney Parks Blog that sheds some light on your question. While the Tree of Life is certainly the signature location, there are actually several beautiful backdrops you may be able to choose from!

Harambe Market offers vibrant architecture and the iconic "Fichwa! Fellow" Mickey wall...perfect for colorful, fun photos. Over in Asia, you'll find lush jungle surroundings and even a view of Expedition Everest, which makes a great backdrop for any adventure-loving family. Discovery River provides a more peaceful setting with a unique angle of the Tree of Life, while the Tree of Life Trails let you get up close to the beautiful carvings on the tree itself.

Depending on the timing of your visit, DinoLand, U.S.A. might also be an option, although that area will soon be closing to make room for the exciting new Tropical Americas land. At the start of your session, your Disney PhotoPass photographer will let you know which locations are available, as they can vary due to weather and park operations.

The photographers typically have a small selection of props available, but you're also welcome to bring your own, as long as they follow the Walt Disney World Property Rules.

Summer, I'm so excited for you and your little princess and all the memories you're about to capture at Disney's Animal Kingdom! If any other questions come up as you get ready for this special celebration — whether you're looking for character dining experiences or the best attractions for little ones — I hope you'll stop by and visit us again. Helping families like yours make unforgettable memories is what we love most!

    Have a WILD time!
