Visiting WDW for Mardi Gras 2020- trying to decide between the Carribbean Beach Resort and Port Orleans. It really comes down to Disney transit time. We are a party of 5-2 adults, 3 kids (8,6,2). Would travel time be shorter at CBR with the gondolas?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Kate!

Decisions, decisions!  Let me begin by saying you really cannot go wrong with either choice.  I have stayed several times at both Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney's Port Orleans Resort (both Riverside and French Quarter) and have enjoyed the atmosphere and amenities at all.

Let's talk about transit, since that is the deciding factor for you.  Transportation to most destinations from either of these Resort Hotels will be by bus, and transit times are pretty comparable.  In my personal experience, I would give a slight edge to Disney's Port Orleans Resort, but only by a few minutes.  Your total transit time by bus will be most influenced by the amount of time it takes for the next bus to your destination to arrive at your Resort Hotel's bus stop.  Did you know, you can check bus arrival times to your Resort Hotel during your stay in the My Disney Experience mobile app?

In the past, Disney's Port Orleans Resorts would have received my vote because of the water transportation to Disney Springs.  The relaxing boat ride along the Sassagoula River is such a pleasant journey!  However, with the opening of the new Disney Skyliner system, I would be tempted to stay at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort.  I can't wait to try the Disney Skyliner for myself!  The journey from Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort to Disney's Hollywood Studios by Skyliner should be quick and efficient.  The only other Theme Park destination that will be served by Disney Skyliner is International Gateway at Epcot.  You can see a map of the Disney Skyliner routes in this link.

I hope I have provided you with enough information to decide upon the Disney Resort Hotel that is perfect for your family.  Please let us know if you have any additional questions.  We are always happy to help.

    Enjoy your visit!
