Visiting WDW 12/27-01/03, I can't find any info on New Year's Eve '09 festivities online - must be missing them - can you help? Have a 4yo and 8 yo - any suggestions for planning for the 31st to make the most of our day?

    Hi Brooke,

My family celebrated New Year's Eve at the Magic Kingdom last year and it was a magical experience. We were a part of 75,000 people all crowded into the Magic Kingdom to ring in the New Year.

I chose the Magic Kingdom because it is a special place to celebrate, and since no alcohol is served here, there was less chance of someone getting out of hand.

You will need to be in the park early as it will be closed if it reaches capacity so plan your dinner accordingly.

Also, if you want to be on Main Street, you will need to be there early as well because it will be packed. I recommend staying and shopping after midnight because the exits were crowded, and there were long lines for transportation. We were staying at the Polynesian and were considering walking but we took the boats.

My family went on the rides right up until 11:45 and then watched the fireworks in Frontierland. It was completely empty and the view was good.

    Happy New Year!
    Beth
