When visiting Orlando’s water parks, are prescription swimming goggles allowed on the slides? My daughter is very short sighted and it would be dangerous for her to go in the pools or on the slides without the goggles. Thank you!

Hello, Tracy, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Your little one is more than welcome to wear her goggles on the attractions at both Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. She just needs to make sure they are securely fitted around her head when she is in the water. Some attractions like the Slush Gusher or Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach and Humunga Kowabunga at Typhoon Lagoon have stricter regulations because of the speeds achieved on these body slides, so she wouldn’t be allowed to wear her goggles for those. Each of these slides has a minimum height requirement of 48” and are designed for older kids and adults. All of the “little kid-friendly” attractions at both of the Water Parks will allow her to wear those goggles, though.

I have a couple more tips as you head off to the Water Parks next month, Tracy, and the first is to make sure you take water shoes or flip flops. My family and I love having our close-toed water shoes to wear while we’re in the Parks because although both Water Parks have sprayers that constantly mist most of the exposed pavement of the sidewalks, those walkways can still get hot in the summer! Since our shoes completely surround our feet, we’re allowed to keep them on while enjoying the attractions, too. If you forget your water shoes or need to pick up a pair of flip flops while you’re there, you’ll find these and other essentials (such as sunscreen, sunglasses and towels) available for purchase at Blizzard Beach’s Beach Haus or Shade Shack and Typhoon Lagoon’s Singapore Sal’s. Towels are also available for rent at each of the Water Parks, too. Lastly, make sure you stay hydrated! Pick up a refillable mug unique to the Water Parks for a full day of self-serve beverages for one low price.

Enjoy your visit to Walt Disney World Resort, Tracy! I hope you have a "splashtastic" time.
