Visiting Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Typhoon Lagoon over 3 - 4 day period the first of August. Staying with friends about a mile from WDW. Is there a place where we can catch the monorail into a park? Or boat? Our son is 7...first trip! Train fan!

    Hi Jill,

The parking lot for the Magic Kingdom is actually at a place called the Transportation and Ticket Center. The TTC is at a bit of a distance from the actual park. To get to the Magic Kingdom everyone needs to take either the monorail or a ferry. It's your choice, or you could elect to take the monorail there and the boat back. You could also just hop on the monorail at the TTC or the Magic Kingdom and ride it around for a while. My own children loved doing that when they were smaller.

The only transportation to Animal Kingdom and Typhoon Lagoon is via bus, so you won't be able to get a boat or monorail there. However, if you do decide to visit the other parks, you should know that you can get to Epcot from the TTC via monorail and between Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios via boat. Even if you don't go into the parks, you can still explore the outer areas via these modes of transport.

Have a great visit to Walt Disney World!
