Hello. we are visiting from 1/5/17 to 1/10/17 which I am learning is marathon weekend down there. How will this impact our experience in Disney?

    Hi, Nicole!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I have had a chance to participate in the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend. It's a lot of fun and you might see more people in the parks than you usually do in January. But don't worry! All of the marathon weekend events are very early in the morning. Runners tend to go to bed early so they can get up at 3 or 4 in the morning. If you want to hit the parks, know that early morning of Saturday and Sunday may have some traffic flow changes in Epcot for Guests near the entrance while runners finish the half-marathon and the full marathon. Other than that, you will just see a lot of people walking around the parks wearing their hard-earned medals. Enjoy the clanking noise and congratulate them! Runners are a super friendly bunch. By Monday, most of the folks participating in the weekend will go home and you'll have a couple of extra days with a smaller crowd size.

Have a fantastic vacation! Let me know if I can answer any extra questions.

Meet the Panelist: Jen, Missouri

I’m a mom, wife and goldendoodle dog owner who is not afraid to ride a fast roller coaster again and again. I love to travel - which is good since I telework with a job in Washington, DC. I’ve visited Disneyland and Walt Disney World multiple times and it’s fed into my belief that you’re never too old to have fun. I run when I can and recently earned my runDisney Coast to Coast medal! I also love photography and founded an online special needs community. Learn More About Jen
