Jambo, Christine! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! You've asked a
souper question, and I'd be happy to give you some food for thought.
Boma, which literally translates into "an enclosure made from thorny sticks," is an African-inspired, buffet-style restaurant at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. One thing I love about all the restaurants at this resort is the attention to detail, so make sure to keep an eye out for the thorny sticks when you dine here in June! Although I have eaten here on several occasions for breakfast (I'm still dreaming about the French Toast Bread Pudding), I have yet to experience it for dinner, and I've added it to my Disney Bucket List. My running buddy claims that Boma is the best of the best when it comes to Walt Disney World dinner
buffets, and it's a must-do for her and her Mouseketeers on every trip. She has told me many times during our long weekend runs about the creamy Butternut Squash Soup, but according to her, every single soup is a winner!
I called and spoke to Guest Services today to inquire about Boma's rotating menu, and unfortunately, they weren't aware of a specific schedule for the soups. However, I was able to find an online blog with a schedule from several years ago, so take this advice with a
grain of salt (pun intended). It looks like the Ghanian Oxtail Stew is usually served on Wednesdays and Friday evenings. Apparently, this stew has quite a fan base because I found a few copycat recipes online for how to make it at home. I must say that now I'm inspired to cook up a batch before my next Walt Disney World trip in a few weeks!
Hakuna Matata, Christine, and enjoy your meal!
