Hi, we will be visiting in January of 2014 and I want to plan our visit to accommodate our 3 year old who is wheelchair bound. What options are there for rides?. She loves Mickey and Minnie also and I would love for her to have dinner with them.

    Hello, Miosotis!

I'm so glad you've come to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your vacation planning question! I am a firm believer in planning ahead to ensure a magical visit, particularly when you have a family member with mobility challenges. I'm happy to tell you that your 3-year-old princess will be able to experience most of the attractions at Walt Disney World Resort!

The Guidemaps to each of the four Disney World theme parks indicate the accessibility requirements at all attractions and shows. There are several attractions where Guests must be ambulatory to access the ride -- or the ride vehicle is at a lowered/elevated height or does not have a large enough door/opening, making a slide transfer from a wheelchair impossible. However, if you have the option to lift/carry your daughter onto a ride vehicle, she will be able to experience some of these rides (such as Peter Pan's Flight, Prince Charming's Regal Carrousel and Astro Orbiter located in Magic Kingdom Park). If she must remain in her wheelchair to ride an attraction, many (but not all) of the attractions in the four theme parks can accommodate a wheelchair.

Who doesn't love Mickey and Minnie?! Your daughter can enjoy a magical dining experience with Mickey and Minnie at Chef Mickey's at Disney's Contemporary Resort and Tusker House Restaurant in Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

I hope this helps! Please write back with any additional questions as you continue to plan your visit.

    Have a magical Disney day!
