Hiya Meagan,
Welcome to planDisney! I’m so excited that you are planning a visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth in early January. The
Disney After Hours events are returning in January, and the cooler weather typically leads to fewer crowds overall; it will be a fantastic time to visit. Don’t forget to pack layers, though, Meagan; it will definitely be warmer than Michigan but still will get a little chilly at night.
The holiday decorations at Walt Disney World Resort are always my favorite part of visiting in November and December. No one does the holidays quite like Imagineers, and they always have the most incredible trees, gingerbread displays, and wreaths. The lovely thing is that the holiday magic tends to linger into the early new year. Unfortunately, there isn’t a specific date for how long we can expect to see holiday decorations at the Most Magical Place on Earth. In years past, we have seen some decorations last through
Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, and sometimes they come down earlier than that. There is, unfortunately, no guarantee that the decorations will be up in the new year at all.
Meagan, I hope that our favorite pixie sprinkles a little pixie dust and some of the holiday decorations are still displayed during your visit. I know it will add an extra dose of magic to your vacation. Please come back and see
us if there is anything else we can help with.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
