Visiting Jan12-18 2014, MK,HS, and epcot. Are Jedi training, parades at MK, etc still going on even though slow time. Any things that we will miss, or other things we will be able to see, usually come in May, Jan is new. Also weather? pants/jackets??

    Hi Jonathan!

Congratulations on planning your Walt Disney World vacation!  You've picked a great time to head to the Disney parks.  The month of January sees lower crowd levels, cooler temperatures and less lines at the attraction queue's.  Typically, all parades, shows, outdoor entertainment and Jedi Training will take place, save for inclement weather.  If the weather is unfavorable, Jedi Training will be cancelled for that particular show.  Parades will be held off until the weather turns for the better.  Fireworks are only cancelled if there is lightening or severe weather conditions.

Weather can be a factor as the evening have a tendency to be a bit chilly, so I will recommend wearing layers that you can remove during the day, and put back on in the evening.  Light jacket, sweatshirt and t-shirt are good layering options.  Also, gloves and a light skully or hat might keep you from getting a chill.

Keep in mind that you will also be visiting the theme parks during a high refurbishment period.  Disney will release a list of attractions that will be closed during your visit.  You can find this list at the independent website wdwinfo.com.

Hope this helps you plan your magical vacation!
