We are visiting HS in June and my children want to try and participate in the Jedi Traing Academy. Do we have to register somewhere?

Hi Lori! Little Padawans love the Jedi Training Academy, a thirty-minute live show in which they learn lightsaber skills from a Jedi Master. When you arrive at Hollywood Studios, your children can register to participate in one of the Jedi Training shows that day.  Pre-registration for the show begins at 9 a.m., and passes are given out for all shows that day on a first-come first-serve basis. The children must be present to register, and if they are not selected for the first show of the day, they will be given a slip indicating the time to return later that day for their Jedi training.  Spots are limited, so I recommend that you arrive at Hollywood Studios before it opens, and once you're admitted into the park, go straight to the Jedi Training area to register your children.

You don't mention the dates of your June trip, but if you're visiting during the first few weeks of that month, you'll also want to check out the Star Wars Weekends at Hollywood Studios!
