We are visiting Galax's Edge in October and plan to build a droid. My son's birthay is in August and his grandparents want to give this to him as a birthday gift. Would we be able to pay for this with a Disney gift card when we get there?

Hi, Renee! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

What an amazing gift an interactive droid will be for your son’s birthday! When you reserve a spot for him at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge's Droid Depot, you’ll need to enter a valid credit card number. Your credit card won’t actually be charged for the experience until you arrive for your appointment (or if you cancel in less than a day before your reservation and/or don’t show up). If your son’s grandparents have given him a Disney Gift Card, he’ll be able to use that when you arrive in lieu of the credit card used for the reservation. You’ll want to show up to the Droid Depot no earlier than 15 minutes prior to your reservation; this will give you plenty of time to settle the payment before the experience begins.

My friends Tony and Kristin each have had the opportunity for their children to build a Custom Astromech Unit at the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge location at Disneyland Park in California, and they said it’s about a 20 minute experience from start to finish. They would recommend giving yourselves at least a 30 minute window, though. Also please note that the experience is limited to the builder and one Guest (and at least one person in the party must be 14 or older). This will mean that your son will only be allowed to have one adult (or older sibling) accompany him as he constructs his new droid. Other family members may want to pop over to the Milk Stand to grab a cup of frozen Blue Milk or Green Milk while you wait or peruse Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities. You’ll find plenty to do while your son is busy in the Droid Depot with his Guest!

I hope you have a grand adventure when you visit the planet Batuu this Fall, Renee! And did you know that if you're at Guest at an official Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you'll have even more time to play with daily extra, Extra Magic Hours at Disney's Hollywood Studios during your October visit? It's just one of the many benefits of staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help you plan your visit to Walt Disney World Resort. We hope to see you real soon!
