We're visiting for the first time mid-August and I'm so sad to hear that Ariel's Grotto will be closed. She is my daughter's favorite princess. Will there be other opportunities to see her as a mermaid? How else can we meet her?

    Hi Kerry,

I can understand your disappointment. Ariel is my favorite Disney Princess and I love dragging, I mean taking my three boys to see her at her Grotto.

Unfortunately as of right now, Ariel's Grotto is closed as part of the amazing Fantasyland expansion going on at Magic Kingdom. Once the full project is completed (estimated in 2013), a number of the Princesses will have wonderful new lands for guests to visit including a new Underwater Sea Adventure ride through attraction and greet area for Ariel. Until this area is completed, you can still see Ariel as a mermaid at the Voyage of the Little Mermaid stage show at Hollywood Studios, but unfortunately there is no greet opportunity here or during her parade appearances. You can often visit with her, and her human legs, at Askerhus Princess meal at Epcot. The characters are subject to change here but we have been lucky enough to visit with her a number of times.

I know it is not the same, but hopefully you can catch her in one of these locations. Also be sure to ask a Cast Member if she may be appearing somewhere else during your visit. The Cast Members have a hotline number they can call to find where your favorite characters are appearing on that day. Don't forget to circle 2013 for a return visit once she settles into her new home.
