We are visiting family on Oahu in September 2025 for the day. Is it possible to visit Aulani for a few hours to check out the property?p

Aloha Andrea, and thanks for bringing your question to planDisney! Aulani is one of my favorite places with its relaxing vibes, Hawaiian culture, and Disney magic.

While most activities and amenities are exclusively for overnight guests, like character meets and pool access, day visitors are welcome to explore many areas of the resort. If you’re driving, you can find information on valet and self-parking fees on the Aulani Parking & Transportation page.

Since you have a few hours, you might want to book a dining reservation at one of the restaurants or a treatment at the Laniwai Spa. I love breakfast at Makahiki because enjoying a yummy meal while Disney pals stop by is the practically perfect morning! For something fancier, 'AMA'AMA has a delicious 4-course, prix-fixe meal that's only outdone by its incredible view of the sunset! I recommend making a reservation for about an hour before the sun is scheduled to go down. Day visitors are welcome to make reservations, which can be booked 30 days in advance.

Now, the Laniwai Spa is my favorite spot at Aulani because not only can you get a restorative massage or facial, but your spa treatment also gets you access to the incredible Kula Wai: Outdoor Hydrotherapy Garden. This oasis of soaking pools, rain showers, and lounge chairs is incredibly relaxing. I could stay here all day!

If you’d rather play it by ear, there are lots of fun things to do without any reservations. If you’re looking for the iconic Mickey-shaped snacks, you can find a colorful Mickey-shaped ice treat at Papalua Shave Ice and a Mickey-shaped Spam musubi at Ulu Cafe. But my favorite treat is the Dole Whip at Little ‘Opihi’s. My family likes to stop here before we head on a walk along the path by the ocean.

There are also three gift shops you can check out—Kalepa’s Store and Hale Manu, which are right off the lobby, and Lava Shack, which is in the pool area. Kalepa’s Store is the largest, with all sorts of Aulani souvenirs, from shirts to ornaments. Hale Manu has more upscale items like handbags and artwork. And Lava Shack has swim essentials, including the Aulani UV protective swim shirts that my family loves!

I hope you have a magical visit to Aulani next month! And if you have any other questions, you’re always welcome at planDisney.
