We are visiting at the end of May!!! My children are 14, 12, and 7. Which restaurant would be best to eat at while at Downtown Disney? We are looking at either Rainforest or T-Rex. It will also be my daughter's birthday, do either offer b-day suprises?

Hi, Karen!  Both Rainforest and T-Rex are owned by the same people, and the incredible theming at both restaurants will have you wanting to look in every nook and cranny to see what else they have packed in there!  The food is fairly similar in both locations, and each location has an "event" that occurs about every 20 minutes that gets the animatronics all in a tizzy!

I have eaten twice in the last month at the T-Rex restaurant, and my girls loved it both times.  We spent my four year old's birthday there, and they did bring her a celebration dessert - as they will do at Rainforest.  My biggest complaint about T-Rex is that on both of our visits, the service was painfully slow.  This is not necessarily a bad thing if you have time to spend there, and you don't have little kids who are chomping at the bit to get into the gift shop part of the store to Build-a-Dinosaur (the shop's version of Build-A-Bear).  We did wait, without exaggeration, 18 minutes for a refill on a glass of water.  Our waitress ended up leaving during our meal, and the new waitress was much better, but plan on this not to be a quick dinner.

When choosing between the two, pick the locale that might best appeal to your children.  Dinosaurs are way cool, but the animals at Rainforest are pretty awesome, too.

    Happy birthday to your daughter!
