I am visiting DW for the first time at the end of Aug 2012 with my husband and our 7 year old. I am concerned about the heat for our 7 year old and how it will effect his energy level. Is there any kind of stroller made for bigger kids?

    Hi Lindsey!

    Congratulations on your upcoming visit!

I can understand your concern about the heat, so I have a couple of tips to keep your 7-year old cool.

    • Buy one of the water spritz fans that are available at the parks. You can also bring a simple water squirt bottle from home and keep it filled with water to spray him throughout the day.
    • Bring lots of water for drinking. You can bring your own water bottle or even a Camelbak water pouch to keep the family hydrated.
    • Buy one of those new stay cool towels (I found mine at the local bedding store) You can put them around your neck and they feel cool at all times.
The strollers at Disney are actually quite large and can accommodate larger children, but 7 year olds can vary in size greatly. My son could absolutely not fit in the stroller at the age of 7, but he is tall for his age. A smaller child might be able to fit comfortably, I've seen smaller 7-year olds fit nicely.

Don't worry though, there are plenty of areas to sit down and rest and many of the attractions are indoors. You can consider going back to the resort during the hot afternoon hours to get out of the sun. Then you can go back to the park at night. You can also plan to do attractions are are indoors during the hot afternoon, such as Mickey's PhilharMagic, Hall of Presidents or Carousel of Progress.

    Magically,
    Stacy
