We will be visiting DW in early MAY. My son will be turning 9 during this time and I was trying to find a restraunt aimed at his age group for a birthday dinner does anyone have any suggestions?

I have a few ideas for an older boy's birthday. (Next year double digits!)

If he would still enjoy a character meal celebration, these tend to be a bit more "mature:"

    - Tusker House. In the Animal Kingdom near the Kilimanjaro Safari ride. Donald Duck and friends preside here in safari exploration gear. There is a buffet with many familiar food offerings, but also many unique African dishes for the adventurers in the group.

    - Garden Grill. In the Land pavilion at Epcot. Chip, Dale and Mickey greet guests here. This is the least "rah, rah" of the character dinners. Many of the tables in the restaurant are private booths so the setting seems more intimate. And the entire restaurant moves, revolving on a giant turntable around the Land ride. How cool is that!

If characters aren't his thing try:

    - Whispering Canyon Cafe. In the Wilderness Lodge Resort. A fun atmosphere with lots of running gags. There are periodic hobby horse races and big skillets of BBQ meats.

    - Rainforest Cafe. Two locations - Animal Kingdom and Downtown Disney. Like you're eating a jungle.

    - The ESPN Club. At the Boardwalk hotel. Every sports lover's dream. Juicy burgers and big screen TVs tuned to sports everywhere.

    - California Grill. If your son is a foodie, this is a very grown-up place to celebrate. Great views of the Magic Kingdom.

No matter what you choose, be sure to tell everyone that it's your son's birthday. Special surprises may come his way!
