We will be visiting Disney World Orlando March 14-18, 2009. I am trying to make sure we have enough money for food and entertainment. We did not purchase the Dining Plan...How much are the average meals?

Hi, Carina!  You and I will be in Walt Disney World at the same time!  I'll be by myself with my three year old this trip, so if you see a haggard looking woman running through the parks after a preschooler, wave to me!

If you visit www.allearsnet.com and click on the dining link, it will take you to a list of all of the restaurants on Walt Disney World property - both in the theme parks and at the resort hotels.  You will find not only menus for each restaurant, but the prices of everything as well, so that will give you a fairly good idea of what you might spend.  Of course, the prices and menus are subject to change, but this is a good overview.

My kids are not big breakfast eaters, so I usually plan to eat breakfast in our room in the morning.  If we are not doing any table service meals, I budget $10 per person for lunch and $15 per person for dinner.  Since I still have two young children who eat off of the children's menu, the left over money from their budgeted $10 and $15 usually pays for a snack during the day as well.

Table service meals at Walt Disney World can vary widely in terms of price.  Check the www.allearsnet.com website, and you can get an average meal cost based on what dining experiences your family wishes to enjoy.

    Have a great trip!
