    We are visiting Disney World from Jan. 6 - Jan. 10 2012. I was wondering if our visit (crowds/ride wait times) would be affected by the marathon? Typically, is the park more crowded before the marathon weekend or after?

    Hi Brian,

    You are correct that there will be a slight bump in crowd levels during marathon weekend, but many of the runners (including myself this year) will only be around for the weekend itself, so only the weekend crowds will be impacted.

    I've just checked the Crowd Calendar at touringplans.com for you. Except for marathon weekend, the entire period between January 5 and January 16 ranks no higher than a 5 crowd level (on a scale of 1-10). This means very reasonable wait times. Marathon weekend itself ranks a 7 on Saturday and a 6 on Sunday. Again, this is fairly moderate.

    If I had to choose to visit before or after the race, I'd go the week before, because the crowd level will be ever so slightly lower, but really either time period is a wonderful time to visit.
