We will be visiting Disney World for the first time at the end of May and we are driving from Central Illinois. Any tips on giving my 11 and 8 year old hints about our destination while traveling? I plan on giving them Disney shirts the morning we arrive.

Hi Lisa! I have some friends who have surprised their kids with a trip to Walt Disney World, but I can never keep the surprise! I would have several gifts for each child that they can open throughout the trip that would serve as hints as to where you are going and what you are doing. Start small and then have them build up to the final gift that will tell them where you are going. For example, if you are staying at All Star Movies, maybe give them a Disney Movie to open. If you are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge, give them tiny zoo animals. If you are staying at the Polynesian, give them a lei. Then you can give them swimming goggles, as a hint that you will be going to the pool or water park. You can give them Pineapple juice, to hint about the pineapple dole whip at Magic Kingdom. Maybe try to throw them off also with a general gift for Florida, such as an orange or palm tree figurine. Think of creative ways to drop hints about things you will be doing when you are down there and where you are going by giving small gifts. This can all lead up to the Disney shirt or Mickey Mouse ears. If they have cell phones, another fun idea I heard is to program Mickey Mouse into their phone with your number. You can then text them "from Mickey Mouse" saying that you can't wait to see them. I hope you have a magical vacation! Magically, Stacy
