We are visiting Disney for the 1st time this June. I'm looking for recommendations on restaurants that don't require a park ticket since we'll be focusing on just 1 park this year - Magic Kingdom. Seems like most of the Character Dining is booked.

There are several character meals in the resorts that don't require park admission. Those in the Magic Kingdom area (since that's where you'll be touring) include Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary, O'hana at the Polynesian for breakfast, and 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. If you've tried booking all of those with no luck and are willing to go a bit further afield for a character meal, you could try the Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club for breakfast or Gulliver's at the Swan (on select days only).

Although character meals are great, you don't have to characters to have fun at WDW. One of my absolute favorite restaurants at Disney World is the Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge Resort. The servers there are often even more animated than Mickey himself. You're bound to have a great time there. Another good choice would be Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Here you can get a taste of the Animal Kingdom without actually going there, you can see many Savannah animals just by walking the grounds at the Lodge. Plus, the food at Boma is delicious.

I hope you have a great trip!
