Hei, Hei, Amanda!
We are so happy you rode the wave over to us here at planDisney with your question.
Moana is one of my absolute favorite Disney films as well, so you've come to the right place! Let's hop aboard, sail past the reef, and see how far we will go to wayfind our way to an answer!
Meeting characters in the parks is a time-honored tradition and a quintessential Disneyland experience. There is nothing like seeing your kiddo get a hug from a character they know and love and look up to. I still remember my daughter being mesmerized when Sleeping Beauty sat with her for a chat! While you are likely always able to bump into Mickey and Minnie during a visit, some of the other characters rotate in and out and may not always be available. I do know that Moana has been spotted at
California Adventure within the last few months, but your best bet is to check the
Disneyland app each morning of your visit. When you open the app, navigate to the pindrop icon in the bottom navigation bar to pull up the park map. On the next screen, scroll along the top and tap the "Characters" icon. This will pull up who will be in the parks that day, and where and when you can meet them. I prefer to view this as a list so that I can easily see who is available. To do this, simply tap the button in the bottom right-hand corner, "Show List". I will put some positive energy into the air that Moana will be back from her voyage and meeting with Guests during your visit!
Amanda, I know this wasn't a concrete answer, but I do hope it was helpful as you plan out the final details for your trip next week! As part of the
70th Anniversary, the resort has just released a Family Adventure Map for both parks, which I highly recommend picking up! These are maps designed specifically with
little wayfinders in mind, and can most likely be found at the
Guest Relations locations throughout the parks. You'll find fun activities for them to do during downtime or waits, and it's a gift for parents and caregivers with a detailed guide to attractions. There is a breakdown of what to expect on each, including if it's scary or has drops, so you can decide if your little one is ready for that experience. Additionally, there is a guide to kid-friendly dining. Yes, it will tell you where you can find chicken tenders and fries throughout the parks, along with other items known to be favored by little palates.
Looks like we are coming into shore, Amanda. If you have any more questions, we are happy to sail away on another adventure with you anytime here at
planDisney.
Wishing you a magical visit!
Tara
