We are visiting Disney with other family members on July 31-August 4. Last night my son sprained his ankle pretty bad playing basketball. He has an aircast and crutches for probably 6-8 weeks. What do I do?

    Laura,

I'm so sorry about your son!  This does not need to be a wet blanket on your vacation, though - it's still very do-able!

I first suggest that you rent a wheelchair or electric scooter for your son.  Disney involves an incredible amount of walking and crutches will leave him arms raw.  He would be very miserable!  I've had several broken ankles myself and I speak from experience.  He'll also need to be able to sit down more often, so the chair would solve both problems.  Scooter and wheelchair rentals are available at the theme parks but they are very expensive.  I suggest that you rent from an independent source.

In the past we have used www.walkermobility.com and been very pleased with rates and with service.  They will deliver the chair to your resort so it will be there waiting for you upon check in, and they retrieve it after you depart.  Their products were clean and as described, and prices were very reasonable.
