I will be visiting Disney in December and have tried to make reservations for character breakfast in Magic Kingdom three months in advance and there is no available seating for a family of 7. Is there anything that I could do to try to get a table?

Depending on when you're traveling in December, you could be facing one of the busiest times of the year at WDW. Dining reservations open up 180 days in advance, so during crowded times of the year it is certainly possible that the most popular dining locations (such as Magic Kingdom character meals) could become fully booked four or five months in advance. However, cancelations do happen so these are the steps I would take to try to get the meal you want:

    - Be persistent. Call several times a week to see if any reservations have become available.

    - Be creative with your party size. There are a minimal number of tables at most WDW restaurants that can accommodate a party size of more than six. Try asking if you could get a table of three and a table of four, or a two and a five. Once you have the reservation, it may be possible for you to have the tables pushed together at the restaurant.

    - Be flexible with timing. Eat early or late. Try getting a character dinner instead of a breakfast.

    - Keep trying even after you get to WDW. This summer I was told over the phone that nothing was available for dinner at the Crystal Palace. While I was in the Magic Kingdom, I walked over to the podium at the restaurant to inquire whether the restaurant was still fully booked. The hostess said to me, "We can seat you if you want to eat right now." So, we had dinner at 4:30 in the afternoon, because our persistence and flexibility paid off.

    Good luck!
